How to go to Bacolod

—For FIlipinos

By Air
You can book direct flights from the country’s top airlines (Philippine Airlines or Cebu Pacific Airlines). There are 4 direct (non-stop) flights to Bacolod from Angeles City, Metro Manila, Cebu City and Davao City.

By Sea
You can reach Bacolod City through a ferry from Iloilo to BREDCO port and from Manila to Banago port.

 

—For Foreigners

If you are coming from abroad, it is best to book a flight to Manila – the capital city of the Philippines then book a connecting flight to Bacolod City. There is only one major airport in Negros Occidental, the Bacolod-Silay International Airport and it has no international flights as of the moment.

How to reach Bacolod City proper from Bacolod - Silay Airport

The airport is located in Silay City which is around 15km from Bacolod city center. You may choose to go to Bacolod through the following options:

 

By van (shuttle service). You’ll find them stationed just in front of the airport’s arrival area. The journey terminates at SM City Bacolod, where you can take a taxi or jeepney to your hotel.

 

By taxi or Grab Taxi. The expensive option, but more convenient if you have lots of luggage. Fare ranges from P250-500 depending on whether they use a meter or not. If you’re a Grab user, you can use GrabTaxi.

 

By tricycle + jeepney. This option would be very inconvenient if you are carrying a lot of luggages because it involves several transfers from one public transpo to another but if you are a light traveller and is looking for adventure you may take a tricycle ride just outside the airport area to Silay City center, then take the (Ceres) bus or jeepney to Bacolod North Terminal. From there, you need to take another jeepney or cab to your hotel.

How much is the fare rate of tricycles or buses to tour us around the city of Bacolod and other tourist spots

The fare rate of the tricycle starts at Php10.00 / person.

 

Buses are only available for travel from city to city and the fare rate also depends on the distance of travel.

 

Taxi base fare starts at Php 40.00 and up, only remember to ask the driver to put on the meter or you may opt to take a Grab using their App to go around the city proper.

Electricity and water supply

WATER
The city has an acceptable water supply system. Water is potable but we do not recommend it. Bottled mineral, spring or purified water are widely available.

 

ELECTRICITY
Generally, 220 volts, with some areas having 110 volts, 60 cycles. A plug with two (2) flat prongs is the norm. The use of a universal adaptor assures safety.

Internet Connectivity

There are several ISP providers currently available in Bacolod, namely PLDT, Globe and Sky which are the main telecommunication companies in the country but do not expect a lot with the speed and reliability especially in remote areas.
